Rune Studies. Runes Department.
Runes are one of the branches of ancient magical practice and represent a complete and self-contained discipline. Just as the small is part of the greater yet reflects all its properties, so too do the runes embody an entire system within themselves.
In this Department, students study runes not as a tool for fortune-telling or prediction — such an approach would be far too limited for a subject as profound as runic magic. Here, the runes are explored as a language that describes the structure of the world and the energy–informational processes within it, from the structure of human consciousness to the structure of universal consciousness, which in essence are one and the same.

A modern rune master, like any true mage of our time, applies knowledge refined over millennia, fully aware that mastery is not forged in an ancient tower upon a cliff. The rune master lives in a high-rise building in a modern metropolis, in an age devoted to the god of technological progress. Yet a thousand years ago, as today, the rune master weaves the fabric of reality according to the same principles as their distant predecessors.
Through the study of runes, students come to understand these principles, uncovering and embodying them within themselves. Runic magic is not one-dimensional.
It unites both magical (informational) and shamanic (energy) principles — not separating them, but integrating them into each other.
The Purpose of Study
The task of a practicing mage is not only to preserve and restore the sacred order of the universe, but also to initiate appropriate transformations through personal will. The runes are among the most powerful methods for such work.
The runes enable a mage to move simultaneously in two directions.
First, they involve energy work that allows one to penetrate the mysteries of nature and the hidden worlds that exist beyond the visible layer of reality.

Second, they offer a path of profound personal transformation — the development of intellect and intuition to the level of complete understanding and mastery of these abilities. Any magical practice becomes effective only when these two paths converge within the mage’s consciousness at a single point. These two paths may be defined as wisdom and inspiration.
Wisdom is knowledge — information — not merely theoretical, but applied. Wisdom allows knowledge to be used correctly. Inspiration is power, energy, and desire. Without it, transformation is impossible, and no magical act can be fulfilled.
These two paths are inseparable. Runic magic is always result-oriented. Most importantly, the power of the runes stimulates the mage toward continuous exploration. This search has no end; therefore, a runic practitioner measures success by achieved results and by the quality of the transformations brought into being.
