Runic Diagnostics. The Functioning of Consciousness

When we begin any undertaking, we are often filled with a surge of enthusiasm. Yet enthusiasm is the reverse side of expectation. By the third, sixth, and subsequent rune casts, that enthusiasm fades. Along with it, expectation also recedes — and interpretation begins to unfold differently. At that point, one must read what is, as it is.

There will come a period — a moment — when, after a certain number of rune casts, you will feel that you understand nothing at all. At this stage, it is crucial not to stop. You must push through this hollow of incomprehension and continue laying out the runes. At some point, a shift will occur: “I understand what is being said here. I even understand what must be done at this moment.” Many of our colleagues break precisely at this point of not understanding. Unfortunately, no one has explained to them that this is a necessary passage.

The Runic Language

The runic language is complex. Every master has their own method of interpretation. When the runes speak with an erilar, they speak in a language that is understood by that particular practitioner. If another person attempts to interpret your spread, they will see something of their own. That is why you should think carefully before sharing your readings or posting them on a forum. Another person’s interpretation can lead you astray — even if that person is an exceptional master. The runes speak with you.

There are no universal rune spreads. Runes are not letters of the alphabet. Depending on the capacity of human consciousness, they may be interpreted on different levels: allegorical, literal, metaphysical, or even alchemical. They contain as many layers of meaning as a person is capable of grasping. The runes speak in accordance with your own layers of understanding.

There should be no intermediaries between you and the runes. While you are learning to formulate intention and receive answers, it is best to do so in simple, concise formulas — clear verbal phrases, without additional qualifiers. If you ask the runes, “How will my day tomorrow unfold?” it is better not to burden the question with extra conditions. For example: How will my day go if I don’t go to work? or How will my day go if Petya calls me? — in doing so, you introduce unreal conditions. You may, in fact, not go to work, and Petya may not call. In this way, you are asking the runes to model a situation that does not yet exist. Accordingly, they will return a complex field of probabilities — and you may misread it. Therefore, at the beginning, do not overload your questions with additional conditions. This applies equally to spreads across the Nine Worlds.

Learn to make use of the wealth you already possess — and to assess it rightly, including your own skills. The runes see astonishingly far; they perceive the human being in depth and in totality. That is why it is important to learn to trust them — and, accordingly, to trust the gods and the forces that stand behind them.

The All-Encompassing Channel of Odin

The best way to learn is through the all-encompassing channel of Odin. For within it lies everything: that which you accept and that which you reject; what you know and what you have yet to master; what resonates with you and what does not. And so, within such an immense and all-embracing channel, it becomes far easier to choose the proper algorithm for achieving a result from the vastness of all possible paths. For Odin is the All-Seeing One. As for doubt — do not be troubled by it. Doubt is a natural and necessary part of all growth. Only a fool and an ignorant person never question themselves. Only the unwise are absolutely convinced of their own righteousness. The more knowledge we gain, the more our consciousness expands.

Multidimensional Perception of the World

A wealth of knowledge gives rise to a multidimensional perception. Such perception means the absence of a rigid algorithm for making a single, precise choice. The algorithm itself becomes more capable of embracing many possibilities at once. In the process of learning, the feeling of “I am a fool, I know nothing” is entirely natural — even for the most experienced and powerful among us. Far more dangerous is the state of absolute certainty: “I am completely sure of myself. I am right, and that is final.” That condition destroys magic far more deeply than doubt ever could. Do not reject this feeling of uncertainty. Let it become an indicator that your knowledge has increased. For when knowledge expands, the ground seems to disappear beneath your feet. The old foundation of understanding naturally ceases to feel solid and unshakable. And this means that a new foundation must be built — one that takes into account the knowledge you have newly acquired.

In certain practices, the result depends directly upon your inner state, and in such moments one must learn to concentrate completely. Here, the formula of the “runes of enchantment” becomes an irreplaceable aid. They allow everything unnecessary to be cut away, and once the work is complete, the runes can be removed and the previous state restored.

These two conditions — confidence and uncertainty — function like a switch; the transition between them can happen very quickly. For the states in which we exist are not an end in themselves. States are the tools. One who uses their mind in magic does not live for the sake of states alone.
