Runes Thurisaz and Laguz
The connection between the rune Thurisaz and the rune Laguz is highly mystical. Thurisaz is called the rune that acts, while Laguz is the rune that guides.
There is a subtle difference in the meaning, yet both are the runes of movement that compel a person to take action. Thurisaz represents personal intention, whereas Laguz reflects collective intention.
In this sense, Thurisaz reveals your intention and shows that it is, in essence, a current.
A current is also quite a powerful thing — we will come to this rune in due time. But note that the rune Laguz belongs to the 3rd Aett, and the 3rd Aett is associated with results that manifest only after personal qualities have already been developed — both innate and those deliberately acquired. This is the domain of the 2nd Aett, and only then does the 3rd Aett become the logical culmination of the first two. Right now, this rune is already seeking to express itself in results, but there is no need to rush.
Because the meaning of Laguz without Thurisaz — without your personal Thurisaz — will manifest outwardly and show you that the results flowing through the current are not yours; they are collective. Thurisaz, however, is your intention, which means the result is yours and, consequently, your existential volume.
Laguz is considered the rune of sorcery, while Thurisaz is the weapon in the hands of Thor
From the myths, we know that sorcerers and witches were regarded by Thor — he himself considered them — as his enemies. Yet, in fact, his wife did not shy away from certain magical practices, and his daughter Thrud, his only daughter, is regarded as the mistress of all witches to this day.
Such are the complex relationships Thor has with sorcery. He may fight against it, yet for some reason, he favors witches above all.
